Can someone give me tips for drawing in the Jojolion art style? I just finished Jojolion and I wanted to start drawing fanart using Araki Hirohiko's modern art style. I really like the semi-realistic fashion model appearance the characters have. I already have the basics of drawing down. This thread is archived

In Araki's book, "Manga in theory and practice" (good read by the way,) he demonstrates how he personally draws his people, describing it as the most efficient way for him, and the best way to get a grasp on good facial structure. He does not start his head sketches with circles at all, which is quite interesting.

• 2 yr. ago It's genuinely unique art. As in, nobody has even attempted to replicate it other than the odd panel as a homage. I can see why people could dislike it. Step 1. Draw real noses. People who draw a lot of regular anime (like I used to) tend to just draw little triangle shadows for noses. Weak noses like that get you nowhere. NOWHERE! Step 2. POSE. Enough said. Step 3. Never give anything the same colour scheme twice. Aarongeddon • 7 yr. ago This is important to remember.

i feel a problem in jojolion is that the hishahigata is supposed to be the central pilar of jojolion but the kids get sidetracked so much in favour of fights that are longer than they need to be and characters that get introduced from nowhere. Araki's art style really softened and rounded just like DiU's

Is Jojolion's artstyle evolving? Recently I've been watching a live reaction to reading Jojolion from the beginning and I can't help but think that the artstyle is different from what it currently is. Slight, but still noticeable. After all, we've been on this part for over 5 years now so it'd make sense for some art evolution to occur.
